QUESTIONS FOR THE CANDIDATES?

If you have any questions for the candatites, here is the place to comment. They will be checking this part often and hopefully they will offer the answers to your questions!

  1. Senator Brady:

Knowing that you are running as the Republican candidate, what can you say to someone like me, that is a Democrat? What is it that would make me what to vote for you? The ballot on this blog shows that 50% of the students will be voting off of the party affiliation of the candidate; what about the other 50%? What are some the the most important issues to you, and what do you think about them?

  2. Senator Earl:

I pose the same questions to you that I did earlier to Senator Brady: Why would an Independent want to vote for you? What, in your opinion, are the 3 biggest issues that we face, and where do you stand on them?

  3. An independant and a republican would want to vote for me not neccessarily because of where I stand on the issues, but rather what kind of a leader I could be and what I can do for this country and these classes. The reason I feel the way I do on the issues is that they are what I feel is best for our country. I know I would not want to vote for a candidate that may have the same views as me but can do nothing about it. I would rather vote for someone who takes a firm stance and can lead. We don't elect a president on the sole basis of what they believe. If we did this then we could elect just about anyone. Rather we elect someone because of thier strength of character and thier ability to lead. We have rights and freedoms that much blood has been shed over. Not only must a president lead the country to new heights and in the right direction, he must also work to maintain what we already have. If the focus is taken off of the maintaining of our freedoms and we elect only on the basis of views and beliefs then those freedoms we enjoy could be at risk to be lost. I feel that I can provide that leadership and maintain the rights and freedoms that we enjoy in this country and that is why I feel that Republicans and Independants should vote for me.

  4. For the Republican candidate: How is your proposal to allow civil unions any different from gay marriage? You stated you would give gay all of the priveleges of a married couple. So what's the difference? I think its accurate to say that most republicans believe that traditional marriage should be protected, your position does not seem to do this.
